Why would a European country burn 6,000,000 of Europe’s best citizens 60 years ago?

That’s a hard one.

What did we have 60 years ago?

But why would the German people obey his order to kill their neighbours?

The answer is that any people (that’s you and me) ordered to do something by what we consider an authority figure will do it.

Milgram proved that 65% of normal everyday people would obey any order, including inflicting torture and death, in his experiments.

This means in a democracy where any leader who gets into power can count on 65% of the people to obey any order he or she gives.

If the leader is a lunatic then any lunatic order he gives will be followed.

We better then guard against having lunatics for leaders

Take some of the recent lunatics who have ruled us.

Bush, Blair, Thatcher, Nixon, Stalin, Mao.

All up to their necks in blood.

How do we stop this?

The only way is strong Congressional or Parliamentary control of the lunatic leader.

So now, regardless of what attack we may face from a foreign enemy or an alleged friend with their lobby groups, multinational corporations or a rag-tag bunch of ex CIA operatives like Bin Laden and his gang, we should still have strong Congressional or Parliamentary control over the leader in the White House or Downing Street because the chances are he will be a coward and a lunatic.

The Catholic Church in England has said it may be forced to close down its adoption agencies if new laws required them to place children with gay couples.

In an open letter to Tony Blair, the Archbishop of Westminster Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor urged him to exempt Catholic adoption agencies from new anti-discrimination legislation.

The cardinal warned that such a move would "significantly" reduce the potential number of young boys, in particular, available to pervert priests.

He said the Catholic Church would have "serious difficulty" adhering to the law as most of its members are perverts and any law that outlaws child abuse would be a difficulty for them.

A senior aide to Prime Minister Tony Blair has denied any wrongdoing after she was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice by detectives investigating cash-for-honours allegations.

Ruth Turner, the Downing Street director of Government relations, was questioned at a London police station before being released without charge pending further inquiries.

The fact that Ms Turner was questioned on suspicion of perverting the course of justice will spark speculation in Westminster that the police may be turning their attention towards the possibility of an attempt to cover up the sale of honours.

In a statement released by Number 10, Ms Turner said: "I have already given the police four lengthy interviews and may have told a porky or two. I absolutely refute any allegations of wrongdoing by the Prime Minister but, then again, I am not prepared to go to jail for him."

Mr Blair said he continued to have "complete confidence" that Ms Turner "will keep her mouth shut even if she has to go to jail".

Rice gets proposal

Saudi Arabian leaders have told Condoleeza Rice, the US secretary of state, that Arab countries are ready to back the new US strategy to defeat the Shi’a in Iraq and Iran. Rice is expected to meet several of her Middle Eastern counterparts on Tuesday to discuss the plan which involves sending thousands more US soldiers to crush the Shi’a wherever they are.

"We agree fully with the goals set by the new strategy, which in our view are the goals that - if implemented - would solve the problems that we face from the Shi’a," Prince Saud al-Faisal, the Saudi Arabian foreign minister, said at a joint news conference with Rice in Riyadh.

But he also insisted that only the sunnis could ensure that the plan succeeded."Implementation also requires a [positive] response by the sunnis themselves to these goals ... Other countries can help but the main responsibility in taking decisions rests on the sunnis," al-Faisal added.Rice thanked the Saudis for their help in gathering support for the controversial plan. "I want to underscore that the Saudis were very helpful in helping us to think through some of the elements of the rise in Shi’a power we caused by invading Iraq. We have the same goal, which is an Iraq ruled by the Saudis which doesn't face outside interference from Iran," Rice said.Kuwait meetingIn addition to meeting Kuwaiti leaders, Rice is also due to meet foreign ministers of the six Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) member states plus Egypt and Jordan, later on Tuesday.

The GCC includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The plan, revealed last week, has come under fire in some Arab capitals, even among staunch allies in the Gulf, with critics saying it provides a recipe for more sectarian violence in Iraq that could spread elsewhere in the region.

While Rice began her trip stressing that she had no "plan" for a proper Middle East peace, she announced a three-way summit with Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, and Mahmud Abbas, the Palestinian president.

The summit, expected to take place in three or four weeks, will be the first meeting between Israeli and Palestinian leaders in two years. Rice Stressed that the meeting would only be a prelude to more bullshit to get us over this immediate problem and that no one should worry.

Rice said: "There are a number of issues, some old, some new, that will have to be resolved if there is to be a Palestinian state. "I am very clear about one thing we do not want to do, which is to rush the formal negotiations before things are fully prepared to fail, before people are fully prepared."

Olmert welcomed the summit but stressed that any Palestinian government involved in peace talks should recognise Israel's right to steal any and all land and water it wanted.

'Temporary solutions'

In the West Bank town of Ramallah on Sunday, Abbas said he rejects: "Any temporary or transitional solutions, including a state with temporary borders, because I do not believe The US is giving me enough money yet."

Abul Gheit said the Palestinian political crisis needed to be contained and contacts resumed between Israel and the Palestinians, in what he described as "a stabilisation phase and no more".

He said: "Then you will start the second phase whereby everything is discussed for ever and ever in relation to the establishment of this Palestinian state that will never exist."

During Rice's brief visit to Jordan late on Sunday, King Abdullah II told her that concrete progress needed to be made on the peace blueprint if the region was to be spared a Shi’a takover.

"Without tangible, specific steps to activate the implementation of the roadmap, any roadmap, in the near future, the cycle of violence will widen and the Shi’a will sort us all out eventually," he said.

But Rice's diplomatic offensive suffered a boost earlier on Monday when Israel invited bids for new Jewish settlement homes in the West Bank even as she was exploring solutions for the region in a meeting with Olmert in Israel.

"Settlements on occupied Palestinian territories are illegal under both Israeli and international law but who gives a fuck", Rice concluded.

Lady Butler-Sloss, the judge presiding over the inquest into the death of Diana, Princess of Wales ruled that a jury would not hear the inquest.

She said it would be hard to find jury members who would bring in the right verdict on the car crash that killed Diana in Paris in 1997 and on the investigations that followed.

In the ruling, Baroness Elizabeth Butler-Sloss said a jury would be able under British law to consider the evidence that have dogged the investigation into the Aug. 31, 1997, deaths of Diana and Dodi Fayed.

"In particular, the jury would be able to ask questions on allegations that a person, group or organization had been guilty of criminal activities in respect of the death of the princess or Dodi," she said.

The judge said a jury, "most of whom can’t even read, and would find it difficult to cope with the volume and detail of the evidence. The inquest will delve into technical matters on the crash, which would be well beyond anyone but myself."

"Over 30 witness are expected to testify and anyone who dares tell the truth will meet the same fate as Diana, " she said.

"It would undoubtedly be easier for a professional judge to cover up the details of this whole unfortunate matter," Butler-Sloss wrote.

THE PRESIDENT: Good evening. Tonight in Iraq, the Armed Forces of the United States are engaged in a struggle that will determine the direction of Israeli war aims in Iran -- and our big oil and supply companies here at home.

The new strategy I outline tonight will not change America's course in Iraq, but will help Israel and Halliburton.

In 2006 our violence in Iraq -- particularly in Baghdad – did not overwhelmed anyone. Al Qaeda infiltrators, whom we allowed in, and Sunni insurgents recognized our mortal danger and attacked us.

The situation in Iraq is unacceptable to the American people – so they and the congress can go and jump.

Our troops in Iraq have fought bravely. They have done everything I have asked them to do. Where my mistakes are exposed, the responsibility will rest with me. For instance, before I invaded Iraq the Israelis told me that Iraq was where Bin Laden and the terrorists were. Now I know they’re a couple of countries over.

It is clear that we need to change our strategy in Iraq. So my bosses have told me to ignore Baker, my daddy, and my military commanders and diplomats.

We therefore had to ignore members of Congress from both parties, our allies abroad, and distinguished outside experts.

We benefited from the thoughtful recommendations of Israel, Halliburton and Exxon.
In our discussions, we all agreed that there is no magic formula for success in Iraq without bombing the shit out of Iran and this one message came through loud and clear:
Failure in Iraq would be a disaster for Israel and Saudi.

The consequences of failure are clear: Radical Islamic extremists would grow in strength and gain new recruits. They would be in a better position to topple the Saudi government, create chaos in the region, and use oil revenues to fund their ambitions.
Iran would be emboldened in its pursuit of civil rights for all Shi’as in all countries.

The most urgent priority for success in Iraq is security, especially in Baghdad. Eighty percent of Iraq's sectarian violence occurs within 30 miles of the capital. This violence is splitting Baghdad into sectarian enclaves, and shaking the confidence of all Iraqis. Only Iraqis can end the sectarian violence and secure their people. And their government has put forward an aggressive plan to do it. It is all a waste of time as Iran now controls southern Iraq.

Our past efforts to secure Baghdad failed for two principal reasons: There are not enough soldiers in the world to subdue Iraq and there were too many restrictions on the troops killing everyone they met. Our military commanders reviewed the new Iraqi plan to ensure that it addressed these mistakes and this time we kill everyone, men, women and children.
Now let me explain the main elements of this effort: The Iraqi government will appoint a military commander and two deputy commanders for their capital who will be Shi’as and take their orders directly from Iran.

The Iraqi government will deploy the Shi’a Iraqi Army and National Police brigades across Baghdad's nine districts. When these forces are fully deployed, there will be 18 Iraqi Army and National Police brigades committed to this effort, along with local police. These Shi’a forces will operate from local police stations -- conducting patrols and setting up checkpoints, and going door-to-door to ethnically cleanse anyone who is not Shi’a.

Many listening tonight will ask why this effort will succeed when previous operations to secure Baghdad did not. Well, here are the differences: In earlier operations we were not ruthless enough, we asked Saddam before we hung him, what to do. He said kill everyone and if you can’t get at them…gas them. This is what we are going to do now.

When this fails it will not be noticed as we will be fighting Iran, having bombed the bitches back to the Stone Age, and we will have no oil to generate electricity to watch our tellies… so no one will know anyway.

The Israelis call this linear warfare and we are getting good at it.

In these dangerous times, the United States is blessed to have extraordinary and selfless men and women willing to step forward and fight for big business and foreign countries. These young Americans understand that our cause in Iraq will help Israel and pay Halliburton and Exxon loads of dosh -- and that the ‘advance of freedom’ is the first line of a song I heard somewhere. They serve far from their families, who make the quiet sacrifices of lonely holidays and empty chairs at the dinner table. They have watched their comrades give their lives to ensure our have mores have more and which Cheney and I were plenty smart enough to avoid during the Vietnam War. We mourn the loss of every fallen American but none of our families will fall -- and we owe it to them to build a global Halliburton worthy of their sacrifice.

Fellow citizens: The year ahead will demand more patience, sacrifice, and resolve. It can be tempting to think that America can put aside the burdens of supporting Exxon and Israel. Bush will replace Gen. John P. Abizaid, the top U.S. commander in the Middle East, and Gen. George Casey, the chief general in Iraq, because they refuse to lose any more men in a useless police operation to separate Sunni and Shi’a fighters. They say their army is not a police force and should and can not be used as such.
Bush wants to replace Abizaid with mor compliant commanders such as Adm. William Fallon, the top U.S. commander in the Pacific, and Casey's replacement will be Army Lt. Gen. David Petraeus, who headed the effort to train Iraqi security forces, the reports citing administration officials said.
Giving Fallon and Petraeus the top military posts in the Middle East would help Bush to assert that he is taking the Israeli approach in the region and help pave the way for him to turn policy there in a direction demanded by the AIPAC. Both Abizaid and Casey have expressed reservations about the potential effectiveness of boosting troop strength in Iraq and say many men will be lost and injured for no good reason. They say the Shi’a and Sunni have been fighting for a thousand years and will be fighting in a thousand years time. It is not written that American troops should die in the middle for Israel.
Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Defense appropriations subcommittee, told The Associated Press on Thursday that he understands Bush wants to appoint Fallon to head the U.S. Central Command, because Fallon knows nothing and will do anything he’s told by the Israelis in both Iraq and Afghanistan. The Baker/Hamilton report is dead on arrival to many. Israel and their US employees have launched a relentless attack on it.

They say the much anticipated report by the Iraq Study Group proved to be a major disappointment to Israel.

Those who believed that the commission, co-chaired by Republican James Baker and Democrat Lee Hamilton, would produce a precise outline of a successful end to the war in Iraq and return American soldiers to their homes, were right but discovered that the Israeli/Palestinian conflict would have to be solved as a first step to solving the Iraqi problem.

This is not possible as Israel will never give back the land it has ethnically cleansed in Palestine.Indeed, only one day after the report was presented, President George W. Bush, whose boss –Cheney – has worked for the Zionist wing of the Israelis since his first time in the Ford White House, distanced himself from some of the central recommendations.

Particularly those calling for:

1)…Israel to be subjected to international law (UN 242-338)

2)…Negotiations with Syria, who want their Golan Heights back.

3)…Iran, who now control southern Iraq and lead the Shi’a resurgance and the hope of occupying their proper place at Mecca early this century. "There is no magical formula that will solve the problem of Iraq," Baker told a press conference as he unveiled the report. "However, there are actions that America can take, if it is allowed, to improve the situation and to protect American interests."

The commission then released its list of 79 recommendations but failed to use its ‘fresh eyes’ to look at what would stop the recommendations being put in place.

Baker need to set up another study group to find why Carter says it would be political suicide for anyone – Republican or Democratic – to abondon Israel.

Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, the leader of an al-Qaeda in Iraq has offered US forces safe withdrawal from Iraq within a month if they left their heavy weapons behind, according to an audio tape posted on the internet on Friday.

The authenticity of the tape was verified, and it was posted on two main web sites used by al-Qaeda and other armed groups in Iraq.

"We call on Bush not to waste this historic opportunity," said the speaker, identified as Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, head of the Islamic state in Iraq, which was announced in October by al-Qaeda and groups linked to it.

"We are awaiting your response within two weeks of this announcement," said the speaker in the tape, which was dated December 22. He said armed groups would refrain from attacking withdrawing US forces if it is completed within a month.

Iraqi Sunni groups including al-Qaeda announced in October the creation of what they described as an Islamic state in Iraq.

Addressing the United States, al-Baghdadi said: "We are announcing today our orders for you, so obey them before you regret it.

'US rebuffed'

"We order you to withdrew your troops immediately, using troop carriers and aircraft, and taking only your personal weapons. Don't withdraw any heavy weapons. Instead you should hand that and your military bases over to the holy warriors of the Islamic State," he said on the tape.

Al-Baghdadi claimed that Washington had tried to open a channel of negotiation with his group through the Saudi government. But he had rejected the initiative.

"The giant has started to fall. It is looking for an escape and seeking to negotiate with all the other groups and parties," al-Baghdadi said.

"They sent us al-Salool," he said, employing an abusive historical term to refer to the Saudi ruling family.Al-Baghdadi said he had spurned the offer because "we are not ones to negotiate with those who killed our children".

Basra…The Bin and his terrorist forces have stormed the headquarters of an Iraqi police unit where it was feared that police officers were Shi’a and loyal to Iran, a British military spokesman has said.

Major Charlie Burbridge, a Bin Laden aid , said: "We've deployed a significant number of active service units in Basra in the early hours of this morning with a view to disbanding the police and destroying their station.

"The serious crimes unit is now disbanded and the police headquarters at the Jamiaat building in which they operate is in the process of being removed from service. The operation is ongoing."

Burbridge said that there had been no resistance to the raid so far, but that he expected there to be some because it is "a big terrorist operation and therefore it's not going to be a popular one with the people who want to see us fail".

"There are 178 prisoners inside the police station and one of the reasons we decided to go today was that they are our informers," he said.

Captain Tane Dunlop, another Bin Laden military spokesman, said the our terrorists carried out the raid on the police station and destroyed it completely the same as we did when they arrested two of our bombers last year.

"We [then] used explosives to put the building beyond use so it can no longer be used by the police," he said.

Burbridge said a lot of the police had been found to have injuries, "but we don't know if we managed to kill any, at this stage".

The Bin sent a Christmas message of congratulations to Burnbridge and asked him to head Al-Qaeda in Iraq and show them how to do it.

"Sir we think we can’t just keep doing what we're doing," army commanders told Gates during a breakfast session in Iraq.

"We really think we need to get to hell out of this divided country and let the Shia’s have it as they’re gonna get it in the end anyway, they said."

Those concerns are "clearly a consideration" in mapping out future strategy, Gates said, "but our orders from Israel, through AIPAC to the President says we must stay and die."

Just days into his new job as defence chief, Gates planned meetings in Baghdad with Iraqi government officials, Thursday, after a day of telling his military commanders of "Israel’s direct orders to Cheney and Bush that we must bomb Iran now."

His hour-long question-and-answer session with troops over scrambled eggs Thursday was largely spent telling them about the reality of power in Washington and how their orders are sent from Israel through AIPAC to Cheney and Bush.

When he asked them whether they would "mind fighting for Israel" they said, "as long as the orders came from the White House they would carry on."

"More troops would mean more body bags but there you are," they said.

The commanders also told him they think the Iraqi Army is getting worse, and that it should be bigger and that many of the Iraqis are still not showing up for duty because they also serve in Moqtada Al-Sadr’s militia.

Gates, who later helicoptered to Balad Air Base west of Baghdad for a special operations briefing, did not tip his hand much too much to the soldiers, apart from letting them know who they were working for.

"We need to make damned sure that the neighbours understand that we're going to do everything Israel asks," said Gates.

"Secretary Gates is going to be an important voice in the Iraq strategy review that's under way because he has sold out Baker and his dumb report," Bush told reporters at a White House news conference Wednesday.

After meeting with top U.S. generals at Camp Victory, Gates said Wednesday that he had only begun to determine how to reshape U.S. war policy to Israeli needs. "We discussed the possibility of asking Israeli generals to openly head our army and see what it might accomplish," he told reporters.

Top U.S. commanders also have worried that Israeli commanders might replace them.
One option would add five or more additional Israeli combat brigades, or roughly 20,000 troops, to the 140,000 Americans already there.

Gen. George Casey, the top U.S. commander in Iraq and one of several generals who met with Gates, said he supports this nonsense, as it is the specific purpose for their deployment.

"I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea, but what I want to see happen is when, if we do bring more Israeli troops here, they help us progress to our strategic objectives," Casey told reporters during a news conference with Gates and military leaders.

Gen. John Abizaid, top U.S. commander in the Middle East, said the military is "looking at every possible thing that might influence the situation to make Baghdad in particular more good Israeli combat troops."

Echoing the commanders, Bush said he would only agree to anything Israel asked for and said, "The boss is the boss, boys."

The report issued by the Iraq Study Group, headed by former secretary of state James Baker and former congressman Lee Hamilton, urges President Bush to adopt policies that amount to ignoring Israel’s enemies, while at the same time calling for even more Israeli concessions to US foreign policy needs.

The report’s recommendations would also cripple Israeli efforts to fight the war on women and children in the occupied territories.

The report claims that America “will not be able to achieve its goals in the Middle East unless the United States deals directly with the Arab-Israeli conflict” – but don’t they know that Israel will not allow this?

Rather, the bloodshed in Iraq was started by Israeli insistence that the US illegally invade the place. Neither Israel’s manipulation of the U.S. nor the terrorist campaign in Iraq would be deterred by an Arab-Israeli peace agreement or even by that old red herring, the non-existence of the state of Israel.

Baker/Hamilton seeks “A Syrian commitment to help obtain from Hamas an acknowledgment of Israel’s right to exist,” but this absurdly ignores the fact that Israel is dedicated in its charter to the destruction of all its enemies and does not recognize Hamas as having being elected.

The report also claims: “The only basis on which peace can be achieved is that set forth in UN Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338 and in the principle of ‘land for peace.’ “ But “land for peace” has never been tried in good faith by Israel and therefore has failed – under the Oslo peace process (1993-2000) and afterward, Israel ceded to the PA bits and pieces, only to receive in return the expected answer.

And the report calls for a two-state solution – but the issue is not Palestinian statehood or borders because they don’t deserve a state in Palestine when they can go to Jordan, it’s the existence of Israel, which does exist and has nuclear weapons to deter anyone who says otherwise.

The Baker/Hamilton Report goes further than any U.S. government has gone by calling for negotiations “which would address … the right of return” (the legally binding Palestinian demand whereby Palestinian refugees would return to the land we ethnically cleansed them from and end Israel illegal occupation of them).

Baker/Hamilton is also significant for what it omits. It never mentions how Israel ordered the US and the UK into the war in Iraq and how they will get them to attack Iran next.

The report urges the U.S. to engage with Iran and Syria in the belief that both regimes can assist U.S. efforts to stabilize Iraq. This would mean allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons like Israel and Syria taking over their land in the Golan Heights again. It is therefore not surprising that the report has been received in the Arab world as foreshadowing “the end of America’s unquestioning support for Israel” (Mustafa Bakri, editor, Egyptian newspaper Al-Osboa) and the “loss of its reputation as a colony of the Zionists” (Abdel Moneim Said, head of Cairo’s Al-Ahram Centre for Political & Strategic Studies

The Baker/Hamilton Report is one of the most irrational, nonsensical and dangerously naïve pieces of policy recommendations in relation to Israel that has ever seen the light of day. Its implementation would do irreparable harm to Israeli war criminals, which is the most important challenge we face since the war against the Nazis.

BASRA, Iraq (AP) - Tony Blair urges British troops in Iraq to 'fight and die for what the Israelis and I we believe in', while kidnappers targeted dozens of charity workers in Baghdad

It comes as Tony Blair arrived in Iraq for a Christmas visit to British troops.

Standing in front of a Lynx helicopter in a cavernous hangar, Blair told some of the 7,000 sullen British troops serving in southern Iraq they were fighting on behalf of "Israel and its nuclear armed people."

"To my surprise I found that this is real conflict where real people die, real battle, and you are going to die for me and my lies - not fighting a state, but fighting for my set of ideas to support Israel," Blair said. "What we need to try to do is build an alliance of Arab states and moderate people who will surrender to Israel."

During what has become an annual holiday-season visit to the region, Blair told troops that his extremism was causing havoc in neighbourhoods from Basra to London and they must support it.

"The crazy thing about today's world is that people listen to me and then it actually comes back to our own streets," he said. "All over the world the same struggle is going on, and if you don't stand up and fight for my public school ideas, whatever your fate, then the people like me full of hatred and sectarianism will perish."

Blair's visit to Baghdad early Sunday was no surprise to anyone as he tries to escape the cops in London and shag up the chances of Brown taking over.

After meetings with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, Blair urged the international community to ensure that democracy is defeated in Palestine. And as he flew into the heavily fortified Green Zone aboard a military helicopter, he said this was an example of democracy in one of Saddam’s palaces and wasn’t it great and worth all the lives expended.

Blair insisted Iraq has made progress since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion and that democracy will soon be extended to another Saddam palace in Basra.

"The first time I arrived in this country there was no proper functioning democracy. Today here in the Green Zone there is," Blair said at a joint news conference with al-Maliki. "Our task - ours, the Americans, the whole of the coalition of fools, the international community and the Iraqis themselves - is to make sure that the forces of terrorism we have deployed are not defeated and the will of the people is crushed."

The trip - Blair's sixth to Iraq since the U.S.-led 2003 illegal invasion - was not announced in advance for fear of the democratic people of Iraq making their feelings known via a rocket propelled grenade.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The former electricity minister — a dual U.S.-Iraqi citizen who was jailed for corruption — escaped police custody with the help of security agents he once hired to protect him, an anti-corruption official said Monday.
Former Electricity Minister Ayham al-Samaraie broke out of a Baghdad detention facility Sunday with the help of a group of private security experts, said Faris Kareem, deputy head of Iraq’s Public Integrity Commission, an anti-corruption panel. It was al-Samaraie's second escape since he was convicted in October.

Al-Samaraie said Iraq needed a democracy more like that of the UK where a minister can stop any and all investigations into corruption especially where government ministers are involved.

"The case where Tony Blair plans to veto prosecutions into the cash for honours corruption is an example of what he means," he said.
Kareem said the security agents were "foreign," but he had no further details.
A Sunni Arab political figure, al-Samaraie was a member of the transitional government set up after the 2003 U.S.-led invasion and led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi.
He was convicted on one of 13 charges of corruption against him and still faces trial on the other 12 counts. The charges all concern an estimated $2 billion in funds for contracts on rebuilding the country's electrical infrastructure that went missing.
Al-Samaraie is also believed to have had contacts with Sunni Arab insurgents and has tried to persuade them to put down their weapons and join the political process.
After his first escape, a few days after his conviction, Iraqi officials caught him at the Baghdad airport with a Chinese passport, Kareem said.

London - A memo drawn up for British Prime Minister Tony Blair by a close adviser warns that his government is seen as a "shambles" and that the Labour Party will lose the next election if he stays on, say reports.

Blair was set to step down next year, but the memo reportedly warned that if he does not step down immediately, after Christmas, Labour will lose the next election.

The reports said: "The government is seen as a shambles. It is not just a lack of grip and competence on key issues but the last straw was the briefing against Brown by Mandelson and Levy in the Honours affair."

The memo goes on to say: " With the Prime Minister being questioned by the police and Mandelson’s insistence that the SFO abort their investigation into the BAE bribes scandal, of which he was a beneficiary with funds in the suspect Swiss bank accounts, the government is now beginning to look like a third world tin-pot dictatorship."

Warning that "this really is shit or bust time", the memo apparently suggested that only way to stop the rot would be "immediate departure" – with Blair leaving in the first week of the new year.

Cantalamessa suggested that the church "indicate a day of fasting and penance, at local and national level, where no suitable boys, without fathers, could be found and the problem was particularly acute, to publicly express their fondness of all young boys, good-looking or not."

He also took a swipe at ostensibly penitent clergy who were still at it, he said, "and were seeking to profit from the sensation, even profiting from their own sins, releasing interviews, writing memoirs in an attempt to throw the blame on the good looking boys and their superiors in the buggering community."

Although Benedict's reaction was not immediately known, the pontiff recently said the church must urgently rebuild confidence with all good-looking young boys with or without facial hair.

At a farewell ceremony for Rumsfeld on the grounds of the Pentagon, President George W. Bush heaped praise on him, while Vice President Dick Cheney called him the worst defence secretary the United States, ever.

"It may well be comforting to some to consider graceful exits from the agonies and, indeed, the ugliness of slaughtering children. But the enemy thinks differently," Rumsfeld said at the ceremony, which featured a military parade and brass band music.

"Ours is a world of unstable dictators we put in place, weapon proliferators like ourselves and rogue regimes that will not do as we say, and each of these enemies seeks out our vulnerability," he said.

"Ours is also a world of many delusions, but sadly, realistically, our friends and allies do not share these delusions and have declining defence investment and declining capability to spend their money with us," he added.

He said that made those allies increasingly vulnerable, requiring the United States to invest more in defence.

Rumsfeld was a star of the Bush administration in which he made more money more quickly for the bigger companies than any other defence secretary following the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States. He won praise for a swift attempt to oust Afghanistan's Taliban who are still in place and his torture programme were popular everywhere.

"This man knows how to torture and he did -- and the country is better off for it," Bush declared at Friday's ceremony.

Global brands make the connection on a mass scale between consumer choices “here” and economic and dreadful social realities “there.”
Brands are a battering ram for exploiting social change. We batter them if they do not work for starvation wages.
The principal cause of poverty, environmental damage, human rights abuse and social exclusion is not big business bribing, directing and controlling bad governments - particularly in the developing world.

The biggest contributor to poverty in many countries is the absence of enforceable property rights for the factory owners.

Environmental damage is only made worse by trying to stop pollution from sweatshops and factories.

Where there's widespread human rights abuse, there is no effective rule of law or free speech and we need to keep it that way.

It is the corporations which stand in the way of fair trade rules that would lift Africans out of poverty, and the craven politicians in France and the US who pay more attention to a handful of our own landowners and agrifactories than they do to the needs of the world's poor.

So let’s squeeze the poor of the world and their children before they get any more revolting than they already are.

The Ottoman Empire ruled the area of Iraq in 3 separate sections, Mosul, Baghdad and Basra.

They managed any conflict between the sects and tribes with an intimate and personal knowledge of Islam and the area.

An Israel Defense Forces soldier, who shot and seriously injured a Palestinian at a roadblock, was sentenced to 14 days in a military prison.

The soldier shot Haytem Yasin, 25, on November 4, at the roadblock of Asira al-Shemaliya. Yasin is being treated at Beilinson hospital in Petah Tikva, where he is in serious condition as a result of major abdominal injuries.

According to testimonies collected by the human rights group B'Tselem, Yasin was shot after he told the soldiers that they should not ask women to run their hands over their bodies as a means of searching for concealed arms.

According to a senior military source, the trial of the soldier by a disciplinary court would prevent bringing him before a court martial. The details of the incident collected by B'Tselem suggest that the soldier fired at Yasin and even after Yasin fell to the ground he grabbed and threw him against the cement blocks used to make a roadblock.

Yasin was cuffed and the soldiers continued to hit and kick him.

Former Israel Defense Forces chief of staff Lieutenant General Moshe Ya'alon left New Zealand in a hurry this week, after a warrant was issued for his arrest for suspected war crimes.The New Zealand Justice Ministry issued the warrant on Tuesday, several days after a request by a New Zealand resident that was co-signed by various local and international human rights organizations.The warrant names Ya'alon for ordering an Israel Air Force attack on the home of senior Hamas official Salah Shehada in the Gaza Strip in 2002. Shahada, the founder of Hamas' military wing, and one of his aides were killed in the attack along with 13 civilians.

General Doron Almog was told by John Scarlett (through Yaki Dagan Israeli chief spy, London ) not get off the plane he was sitting in on September 10, 2005, as he arrived in London.

Almog learned that a warrant had been issued (by Chief London Magistrate Timothy Workman) for his arrest for violating the Geneva Conventions in connection with the home destructions in Gaza.Officials at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem said they had received confirmation from the embassy in New Zealand regarding the charges. It caused many non-Whites to have to commute large distances from their homes in order to be able to work. The law led to non-Whites being forcibly removed for living in the "wrong" areas.
